OpenOffice.org - Multiplatform, open-source office suite OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project. Compatible with all other major office suites, the product is free to download, use, and distribute. This package was built from the main binary distribution from OOo, with modifications to support pain-free integration into the Slackware KDE environment. Upon installation, seven new OpenOffice.org menu items should appear in the 'Office' submenu of your KDE start menu. NOTE: Some things have changed since version 2.0.1. Please read on for more information: 1. The main installation directory is now /opt/openoffice.org2.0/, instead of /opt/openoffice.org-2.0/ (ie. the dash has been removed from the directory name). This keeps the Slackware version more consistent with other distros, and makes it easier for packagers who are providing language extensions to generate their packages. 2. The KDE desktop entries are in /usr/share/applications/, instead of /opt/kde/share/applications/, so that they work in both KDE and Gnome. 3. The Gnome-Integration module has been included. This means that OpenOffice.org should now work nicely in both KDE and any Gnome distribution, such as Freerock Gnome.
