Re: Wrong uid and gid ?
|
|
Mathieu,
<br><br>
You are correct, the UID and GID settings for the OOo files are weird. These are the default settings for the OOo files, and I chose not to change them, as I was not sure if anything within the software depended on them. The only "root.root" files are those that were created by the Slackware installer. The weird ownership does not seem to adversely affect the application in any way.
<br><br>
If you would like to test this out, you can easily change the UID/GID settings for the entire package by doing the following (as root):
<br><br>
# cd /opt/openoffice.org-2.0/
<br>
# chown -R root.root .
<br><br>
I might do the same thing and test myself. If it works, I will make sure the next release of OOo will have "root.root" ownership.

If any RedHat users are reading, I would appreciate it if you could explain why OOo has the uid.gid set to 95443.261. |
